1986 to today.

Oakdale Locksmith opened in 1986. That is 40 years of keys, locks and safes. Today the shop is the log cabin at 630 N Yosemite Ave, Oakdale. There is no second location. One shop, one local number: (209) 847-2066.

The sign out front says what we do: Keys, Locks, Safes, Car Keys, Remotes. The van says the rest: Keys, Locks, Safes, Lockouts and Rekeys, for your home, business and vehicles. If your problem fits one of those words, we are the right call. If it doesn't, call anyway and ask.

The sign and the van.

KEYS · LOCKS · SAFES LOCKOUTS & REKEYS · HOME · BUSINESS · VEHICLES

Two things carry our name around town. The sign on the cabin reads Keys, Locks, Safes above the name and Car Keys, Remotes below it. The van reads Keys, Locks, Safes, Lockouts and Rekeys, for your home, business and vehicles. If you see the van in your driveway, that is us.

Keys are cut at the shop. Lockouts and rekeys come to you. A rekey means new keys for the locks you already have, so the old keys stop working.

How we work.

  1. Ask for the price when you call. Tell us what you have: the door, the car, the safe, the key in your hand. Ask us for a quote on the phone, and ask what could change it.
  2. Expect us to ask for ID on a lockout. Any real locksmith will. Have something that shows the place or the car is yours: ID with the address, a lease, a piece of mail, or the registration.
  3. Bring the key to the shop for copies. We are open Monday to Friday, 8 to 5, at 630 N Yosemite Ave. Keys are cut here.

Not sure your job fits? Call (209) 847-2066 and describe it. If we can't do it, we will say so.

Oakdale, on the road to Yosemite.

Oakdale is in Stanislaus County, where the valley meets the foothills. It calls itself the Cowboy Capital of the World. N Yosemite Ave is the Hwy 108/120 corridor through town, the road people take from Modesto toward Knights Ferry and Yosemite. The log cabin sits on it at number 630. That is where you will find us.

Call us if you're in Oakdale, Riverbank, Escalon, Waterford, Modesto, Ripon or Knights Ferry. Somewhere else? Call and ask.

Check the license.

The California Bureau of Security and Investigative Services (BSIS) issues locksmith licenses. Each one has an LCO number. Ask any locksmith for theirs and look it up at search.dca.ca.gov, the state's license search. The bureau's own site is bsis.ca.gov.

Then check the rest the same way: a building you can drive past, a local number, a record on Google. How to tell a real locksmith from a call center
